Dhamaka London 2012 disappoints thousands of fansDhamaka London 2012 Sonu Nigam & Atif Aslam disappoints; billed as the most hyped asian concert of the year, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing asian concerts ever staged in the UK. Instead of offering audiences the promised "big bang", the Dhamaka London 2012 concert at 02 Arena in London on April 22 turned into a disaster because headline act Sonu Nigam pulled out just 24 hours before the event because the organisers "Flex FX Productions" had failed to arrange UK visas for all band members, despite having months to do so. If main organiser Naz Choudhury had perhaps taken a break from repeatedly boasting about this being a historical concert and sorted out basic requirements to fulfil this event, then thousands of audience members would not have been short-changed. Although Atif Aslam admirably decided to carry the whole show, the audience had paid for two big headline acts and were not offered any form of partial reimbursement on their tickets if they decided to attend the concert. Flex FX Productions offered refunds to people who did not use their tickets, but many suggested they simply had not been given sufficient notice to cancel flights, trains having travelled from overseas and other parts of England to be at the show. The conspiracy theory that quickly did the rounds is that organisers deliberately gave short notice to maximise profits. In some cases, television adverts were playing on the day that Sonu Nigam would be performing and some unscrupulous ticketing agencies did not let people know that Sonu Nigam would not be performing at Dhamaka 2012. Not surprisingly the stadium was half empty, there was plenty of booing and many walked out. Things hit a real low point when audience member Waheed Khan was stretchered away seriously injured through no fault of his own. One leading promoter who wished to remain anonymous said: “I think Naz Choudry and Flex FX Productions cheated the public. He has also destroyed the reputation of Sonu Nigam and given a bad name to honest promoters who want to entertain the public and offer them value for money. I hope he is never allowed to do an event again.” A Sonu Nigam fan who attended had this to say "Dhamaka 2012 disappoints me, 8 members of my family flew from Dubai, the USA and across Europe to meet to see Sonu Nigam, as good as Atif Aslam was, we came for Sonu and paid plenty for hotels, flights and to see a dream come true event in London, we all feel greatly let down by this promoter, more so given it is for a reason well within his control, he is incompetent as far as I am concerned!" Organisers of Dhamaka 2012 have only given those who did not use their tickets until April 30 to get a refund, but this is not legally fair! Legal experts have informed KZ Entertainment that if those who attended the Dhamaka concert felt they have been short-changed they have longer to claim a full refund and can take Naz Choudhury to small claims court. Those who used their tickers to enter the arena and did not find out that Sonu Nigam was not going to perform until they were inside the venue are also entitled to a refund. The O2 Arena will be memorable for Atif Aslam bravely holding up a sinking ship, but little else. Naz Choudry declined to comment despite attempts to contact him. For a refund contact:

An incredible career has seen Asgar rise through the ranks to become the celebrity hairdresser of choice for some of the biggest stars in the world. The London based stylist has worked his magic on A-list Bollywood superstars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Karisma Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Akshay Kumar as well as legends from the west like Joan Collins, Cindy Crawford and Twiggy.
When he is not transforming A-list stars, he is creating eye-catching styles for some of the richest people in the world including royals. “The one thing all these people have in common is that they understand the need for good hair and a regime that maintains their unique style. A exceptionally well cut hair style will go a long way towards making you look good and that is true for everyone,” explains Asgar.
Based in the UK’s most high profile salons Daniel Galvin, situated in the heart of London’s Marylebone, Asgar regularly conjures up new styles or solves impossible hair problems.
As well as having styled top models for the front covers of high end fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Tattler, the super stylist has also graced the fashion and style sections of national newspapers such as Observer, Times, Independent, Telegraph and Daily Mail. “The great thing about my job is that people from all walks of life come with very different requirements. Whilst some will just want a blow dry, others want to fix a disastrous haircut that went wrong at another salon or want a complex colour or a brand new look. Then when it comes to working for publications, fashion shows or television, there is a whole new set of challenges. The secret of taking care of all these people is to put their needs first,” says the charismatic stylist.
During a break from his hectic schedule, Asgar explains the importance of communication when creating a wonderful new look. “Only a stylist with a massive ego will do as they please. I believe in speaking to the client at length, whether they are an everyday member of the public, a big movie star or a super model. Through an honest and confidential discussion, I can get to the root of what is needed,” he says confidently.
This has served Asgar well during an action packed career full of countless highs. “Although I have done hair in every possible high pressure environment and glamorous events, I still prefer the one to one interaction. At the end of the day, my job is to make the client happy more than the people who will be looking at the style. If you are happy with the style you have, the whole body language will change and a smile will light up your face.”
He is also an expert and regularly dishes out advice in different publications. Imparting his words of wisdom on good hair, Asgar has been a regular columnist for the UK’s leading national newspaper Eastern Eye since 2005. So what key advice would he give to readers? “The best hair style that suits you depends very much on factors like your face shape, build, height and lifestyle. A good stylist will take everything into account and combine that knowledge with current trends to come up with the perfect style. Once you have the dream cut, it’s very important to take care of it. So use the right products and learn how to correctly dry your hair and use things like straightners. A little bit of knowledge will go a long way to making you look amazing.”
In addition to styling some of the world’s high profile people, Asgar has also established an environmental charity to protect rainforests around the world. The ace stylist finishes off with a final message to anyone who wants a dream haircut. “Every single person out there can have an amazing haircut that will turn heads. Abhishek Bachchan’s Chelsea SurpriseFootball fanatic Abhishek Bachchan was given a tremendous surprise when he visited popular London restaurant Chak89 earlier this month. The star of recently released movie Players was gifted a framed shirt, signed by his favourite football team Chelsea, by the owner of the restaurant F Khalid. Also a major fan of Chelsea, self made millionaire F Khalid was delighted to learn that Abhishek also supported the same team as him and arranged for the very expensive gift. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for the Bachchan family and didn’t want Abhishek to leave empty handed. I’m really glad he liked the gift and enjoyed the food at Chak89, next time I will take him to watch a Chelsea match. He is a genuine fan of Chelsea football club and watches most of the matches,” said F Khalid.
Abhishek was clearly delighted to receive the collectors item and took time to discuss Chelsea football club with F Khalid. Abhishek met the British press at Chak89 at an event especially organised by Qatar based company KZ Entertainment before heading over to Cineworld Feltham to meet thousands of screaming fans. “We always like to get fans and media closer to the biggest celebrities in the world. The event and Chak89 and Cineworld enabled us to do that and it also gave us a chance to promote Indian cinema to audiences in the west. We hope to bring more stars from around the world to London,” explained Kaser Mehmood.
Abhishek is the latest in a long list of celebrities who have visited Chak89. Other A-listers who have visited the top restaurant include Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Vivek Oberoi, (actor) Imran Khan and Shah Rukh Khan along with a whole host of western mainstream celebrities. “We are proud of the fact that so many big names have visited Chak89 and plan to bring more celebrities to the establishment so they can meet the real die hard fans.”
